Middle East Tension

Tempting Armageddon

1 Thessalonians 5:3 - "For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them..."

On July, 2006, a fighting started between the Hezbollah militias on South Lebanon and Israel. Many people have their eyes fixed on this region of the world, which brings to mind the biblical Armageddon. Is it time for it? Looking carefully to related prophecies of the Bible it is not difficult to say: No, it is not time for Armageddon. No, not until these other prophecies have their fulfillment before it.

It is not the beginning of Armageddon because:

1. Armageddon is a global battle fought on every land of the earth. Rev. 19:19.

2. Armageddon comes toward the end of the seven las plagues. Rev. 16:12-16.

3. The prophecy of the Peace and Safety has not been fulfilled yet.

4. The prophecy of the image of the beast making fire to come down from heaven has not been fulfilled yet. Rev. 13:13.

5. The struggle over the Ten Commandments comes to a climactic point. On one side are the breakers of the Law; on the other side the keepers of the Law. The climax has not been reached yet. Rev. 14:9-12; 18:1-4.

6. The Judgment, in the Temple in heaven, is waiting for the final decision of every person. It has not closed its doors yet. Daniel 7:10.

All this, and some other startling events will be here before Armageddon.

Something great and decisive will happen in the political and religious landscape of the world to tell the people that a time of peace has come... but it disappears like a vain wish. "Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time." (Rev. 12:12) Those who do not know this prophecy will be carry away by the perspective and the euphoria of Peace and Safety. Watch out!
