Prophecyinaverse

Did God tell where the Messiah will be born? Prophecy in a Verse found some people waiting for Him. Just come to

Jesus' Birthplace.

Micah 5:2 - "But thou, Bethlehem Ephrata, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings have been from old, from everlasting."

The prophet Micah lived during the times of King Jothan, Ahaz and Hezekiah of Judah, and around 700 years before Christ, he revealed the place of the birth of the expected Messiah: the town of Bethlehem of Judea.

Mary was chosen to bring, in human flesh, the Son of God into this world. Also the angel advised Joseph of God's plans and secured his paternal care. Under the taxing edict of Augustus Caesar they traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem where Jesus was born. Luke 2: 1-20

Who is this child? "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6. A divine Being coequal, coexistent, and coeternal with God the Father, who took upon himself humanity in order to rescue planet earth, and man, who they created in their own image. Jesus laid aside, voluntarily, his divine prerogatives, to be a man among men. Very often, he called himself the Son of Man. The human mind cannot fully grasp God's wisdom, just marvel at it. "Great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh." 1 Tim. 3:16.

"to be ruler in Israel," the Son of God has all the qualifications:

  • Created the worlds and man. John 1:1-4, Gen. 1:

  • Called Abraham to start a nation who will spread the knowledge of God in all the earth. Gen.12:2; 22:18. And a little later gave Jacob a new name: Israel. Gen. 32:28

  • Directed Moses to establish a system of religious services and sacrifices where people will look forward to the Supreme Sacrifice of God, offering the Lamb of God to save man from death, the penalty of transgression, rebellion and sin.

  • Was born into the human family from the line of king David. "And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And behold thou shall conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shall call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." Luke 1: 30-33. This was the great hope and expectation of Jesus' disciples: to have a part in the restored earthly kingdom. They could not understand Jesus words of suffering and death as the Lamb of God for the sins of the world. The sad prediction didn't match the hope and expectation bursting in their minds. The cross came upon them as the brake of a storm, sinking their minds into perplexity and abandonment. But Jesus resurrection brought back faith, hope, understanding of the prophecies, and a vision of the future.

  • Ascended to the Father. Acts 1: 9-11. In heaven, Jesus entered into the Sanctuary or Temple of God to assume his position as High Priest to intercede for his people and to complete the plan of salvation for the human race, as described in the Book to the Hebrews, and 1 John 2:1. From Moses, for centuries, Israel has observed the day of atonement or Yom Kippur. In heaven, Christ is already officiating as the Advocate and the High Priest of the Grand Day of Judgment. Daniel 7: 9,10; Rev. 14: 7. Here it is where the Book of Life is cleared out of those who didn't avail themselves of God's plan of salvation and the character of Jesus. Matt.22: 8-14. This is the time when the dominion of all nations shall be given to Jesus, the Son of Man, and he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever. Daniel 7: 13, 14, 18, 22, 27. One day, Christ will lay aside his garments of high priest and will dress up as king of heaven and earth.

  • He will come again. One day, in glorious radiance, with all the angels, the trump of God and shouts of victory, the Redeemer will rend the skies to rescue God's people from an earth in total chaos. In his hand is the long awaited reward promised from the beginning: resurrection for those waiting in the dust of the ground, and translation into life eternal for the faithful living and enduring in Christ till the end. 1Thess. 4: 13-17. Once the last saint has been caught up to meet Jesus in the air, they return to heaven for a thousand years. The wicked, which never came to Jesus for salvation, cannot withstand God's presence and die under his brightness. In Christ, everyone whose name is in the Book of Life, born Jew or Gentile, belongs to spiritual Israel and he is an heir to Abraham's promises. Gal. 3:16, 29.

  • After the millennium in heaven, Christ returns to earth to conclude the final judgment with the destruction of the wicked, and of Satan and his angels, in the lake of fire. John saw Christ returning with the saints and the New Jerusalem to establish the everlasting kingdom in an earth made new and Paradise restored. Zech. 14: 4, 5. Rev. 21. Jesus Christ, the seed of Abraham, the son of David, the ruler of Israel and King of the Universe.
