Glory to Him

He is Risen

Revelation 1:18 - "I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen.

There were three crosses on Calvary hill. The Roman soldiers crucified Jesus of Nazareth in between two malefactors that were condemned to die on the cross. One of them railed on Jesus, saying, if thou be the Christ, save thyself and us. But the other confessing their just condemnation said, this man had done nothing to be hanged on the cross; and grasping for hope asked Jesus: "Lord remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom." (Luke 23:42) It is evident this man had prior knowledge of the mission of Jesus on earth, as the prophets foretold: he would come to call sinners to repentance and to saved them for the kingdom of God. By faith he trusted Jesus promise that day that he will be back to life when Christ comes for His children.

Why is Christ the center of attention on earth, in the heavens above and in the Holy Scriptures? Christ is unique; no other being like Him in the entire universe. One with the Father from eternity past, Creator of the worlds, the Source of life. (John 1:1-4; Colossians 1:16, 17)

One day the love and harmony among the created angels was broken when Lucifer became the active agent for his insubordinate ideas. (Ezekiel 28:14-17; Isaiah 14:12-14) The mystery of iniquity began to develop: how a perfect angel became the devil, and Satan. Those insane ideas overpowered Lucifer's will to the extend that he refused to come back into the circle of love. (Revelation 12:7-9) Christ and the loyal angels had no choice but to expel the rebel angels from heaven. There was a new creation on earth and just two human beings to begin the procreation of a different race; and Lucifer began his plans to deceive Adam and Eve in order to take the dominion from Adam for himself and his angels. (Genesis 3:1-6) He did it, and we are still in that history of suffering and death...

Did the Godhead make plans for such eventuality? Yes, before creating man the plan of redemption was designed: "But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you." (1 Peter 1:19, 20) For the love to His creation, Christ offered Himself to become the Lamb of God. And on the ears of the serpent and of the guilty couple the plan was revealed: "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." (Genesis 3:15) Christ, the seed of the woman, in the end will bruise the serpent head, He will destroy the devil and evil forever. Satan shall bruise his heel, trying to kill the Son of God, but of no avail because He is Life Himself.

The penalty of death became a reality for the human race; in its last stage it is in store for unrepentant men and women, for the fallen angels and for Satan. To pay the penalty of death the Creator had to descend the scale of living beings to become one of his creatures. One step down would be an angel; two steps down to become a man. That is what He did when He was born of a woman with a human body to pay as the Lamb of God for the sins of the world. How this was done? "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh." (1 Timothy 3:16)

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us." (Matthew 1:23)

"And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." (Matthew 1:21)

The devil understood the meaning of God's sentence in Eden: the seed of the woman was a real threat for his life. Soon enough the devil took note that Abel was too much in love with God, and right away he instigated in Cain the spirit of rebellion to kill his brother, just in case this son was the foretold seed of the woman.

Four thousand years went by and now the coming of the seed of the woman is even announced by the angels. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11) At this time the jealousy of King Herod was arisen by the wise men of the east asking for the One born King of the Jews. By divine intervention the wise men were sent out through another route and the parents with Jesus to flee to Egypt. (Matthew 2) Herod could not contain his rage and sent the army to Bethlehem to kill all children under two years of age.

For 33 years Satan tried to overcome the Son of God while wearing the garb of man. Christ used his divine powers for the benefit of others; water was turned into wine, five thousand were fed with five loaves and two fishes; He stopped the storm, walked on water, healed the sick, resurrected the dead. To fulfill all justice and the Law of God He had to be a man for Himself, and on that great temptation of using divine powers He overcame from beginning to end.

More than once, Jesus told the disciples: "For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and insulted, and spitted on: And they shall scourge him, and put Resurrectionhim to death: and the third day he shall rise again." (Luke 18:32, 33) "Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again... I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again." (John 10:17,18) At the end, the hour came when Jesus was brought into the court of Pilate's palace, where the gathering instigated by Satan as a roaring mob cried: "Crucify him, Crucify him" (John 19:6) And on that Friday, about 3pm Jesus died on the cross and paid the penalty of death that had fallen on the human race from the transgression of the law by our first parents.

The disciples with fear in their minds forgot Jesus promise. While Jesus was resting in the tomb, the perpetrators could not rest; they have killed Him, but now they were afraid of His words and power. From Pilate they obtained a watch of soldiers, believed to be 100, and the seal to secure the stone covering the tomb. (Matthew 27:65, 66)

One hundred valiant Roman soldiers spent the night watching the tomb of the Son of man. Suddenly before sunrise on Sunday, as lightning from the sky, an angel descended from heaven, an earthquake shook the earth, the angel rolled the stone out of the entrance, and sat on it. The terror of their lives sent the soldiers trembling to the ground while the radiant figure of the Son of God came out of the door proclaiming: "I am the resurrection and the life," as he said before. (John 11:25; Matthew 28:2-4)

He is risen: The angel said, 'He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.' (Matthew 28:6; Mark 16:6; Luke 24:6) The Risen Savior appeared to the disciples for 40 days to strengthen the faith of the disciples in the truth of the mission of the Savior of the world beginning with an eyewitness testimony of His resurrection. Christ had conquered death and Satan. Through Christ any human being can obtain the righteousness of Christ and His grace for the inheritance of eternal life. For that purpose He will enter the Heavenly Sanctuary as the anointed High Priest to minister the merits of His blood to all repentant sinners that will come to Him.

The reception given to the King of glory, as He ascended to heaven, by the angelic host was revealed prophetically many years before: "Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in." (Psalm 24:7-10)

Between His ascension and the Second Coming, Christ is ministering on behalf on His children, the heirs of salvation. "If we confess ours sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us ours sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

#1.- He forgives ours sins. Only the blood of the Lamb of God has value and power to atone for our sins. Upon repentance and confession of a sin to the Savior, the High Priest applies the merits of His blood to cover that sin, the sinner is forgiven, he is now justify, a just child of God. 'He is faithful and just.' Believe it and have faith in Him.

#2.- He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. As in the sanctuary of Moses in the wilderness, once a year came the day of Atonement (today Yom Kippur); in the heavenly, before the Second Coming, it comes the Judgment to certify the name of those who have been saved by Christ and will be rescue from planet earth at the Second Coming. (Daniel 7:9,10; 8:14; Rev. 14:7) During the Judgment, when a name is called in the court of heaven, being dead or alive, if the person belongs to Christ, with all his sins forgiven by the Savior, the Advocate stands in the place of the person, and all that the jury and the court see is the righteousness of Christ, the perfect life of the Savior. Yes, marvelous grace, that child of God is covered by the righteousness of Christ, his name remains in the Book of Life cleansed from all unrighteousness. "And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." (1 John 2:1) Marvelous grace of God! The question is, Why so many human beings despise the love of God and the free gift of eternal life in Jesus Christ? Why running after the devil, just for death, eternal death when life, eternal life is freely given by a loving God?

Then, the end comes with severe crisis everywhere: economic, political, religious... We see these ones and suffer their impact on us.

We don't see the changes in heaven, but they are happening: Christ the Mediator and High Priest in the Judgment is about to stand up, because on earth everyone has made up his mind. One side obey and serve the Lord; (Rev. 14:12) the other side obey and serve Babylon the Great. (Rev. 14:8-11) Christ pronounces the final verdict, (Rev. 22:11) and the doors of salvation are closed forever.

While the seven last plagues are falling on those who rejected the free gift of salvation, the Savior is changing His robe of High Priest for the one of King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to appear on the eastern sky surrounded by the angels and majestic glory. On His call, all the children of God raise up from their sleep in the grave, and the ones alive join them to ascend and meet the Savior in the sky. (1 Thess. 4:16, 17) Once the whole earth is reaped, Christ leads the majestic congregation back to heaven to be with Him in the heavenly mansions for a thousand years. Do you want to miss that? The time to decide it is now.
