Before entering Canaan, the prophet Balaam told God’s people about the Star and the Sceptre coming out of Israel.

The Star of Jacob.

Numbers 24:17 - “I shall see him, but not now; I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel.”

Around 1405 BC the Hebrew people were encamped at Shittim, east of the Jordan river, waiting for God’s orders to cross over and posses the land of Canaan. Balak, king of Moab, and the surrounding kings were fainting as they heard of the mighty powers assisting the Israelites. Balak hired the prophet Balaam to curse Israel, but the prophet told the king that he will say only what God will put in his mouth. It was only blessings over God’s people. Definitely he said: “there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel.” Jesus was the Star out of Jacob. The wise men that brought gold, frankincense, and mirth, on arrival worshiped the new born king. During the long trip from the east, they were guided at night by the star, a group of bright angels, until they found the Messiah. As Savior He paid the price of redemption with blood and life. He offers to raise to life those who lived and died in Him as He did with His own body.

One day, the Son of God will ride forth as Lord of Lords and King of Kings on the Second Coming, in the sky above, to rescue the purchase of His blood, God's children, from a devastated earth. (Rev.19:11-16) Born into humanity from the line of King David, in the earth made new, the ruling scepter over the Israel of God will be in His hands forever.
